Area Police
Around 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then located multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.
An important official stated the attack made him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
